Football fan takes extreme action following his daughters allegedly unfair dismissal and handcuffs himself to goal post

John Foley invaded the pitch at Monday night’s Everton v Newcastle Premier League match wearing a T-shirt reading: 'Europe's greatest training robbers. Ryanair. Lowest wages guaranteed. Stop. Recruitment scamming our children.' He then handcuffed himself to the goalpost and had to be removed with bolt cutters.

It has been widely reported that his actions were in protest at his daughter’s dismissal by the company, which he felt was unfair.

Merseyside Police said a 46-year-old man from Southport was arrested for pitch invasion following the incident.
