Return from long term absence checklist

  • Find out if the employee is apprehensive about returning to work. This is particularly relevant if the employee`s absence resulted from an industrial accident or is work related.
  • Be understanding and help to build up the employee`s confidence as it may take time for the employee to return to normal performance after prolonged absence.
  • Ask the employee to attend a return to work interview.
  • At the interview give the employee the opportunity to discuss any concerns about returning to work.
