ACAS - for codes of practice, advisory handbooks and leaflets, latest news

Age discrimination - the government has launched an Age Positive website to provide practical help for employers and individuals, as part of a major publicity drive in the run-up to the new anti- age discrimination laws that must be introduced by December 2006.

BERR (Department for Business, Enterprise & Regulatory Reform) (formerly the DTI)- features regulatory guidance, legislation under consideration and the latest employment issues and developments.  

CRE (Commission for Racial Equality)- information on racial equality  
 
CRB (Criminal Records Bureau)- for checking the criminal records of employees

Department of Health- general health queries including access to a wide range of publications, policy and guidance

Depression - ACAS guide on how to spot signs of depression in the workplace 

DWP (Department for Work and Pensions)- for information about DDS benefits, including SMP and SSP.  

DRC (Disability Rights Commission)- an independent body set up by the Government to help secure civil rights for disabled people, provides information on disability rights.


EOC (Equal Opportinities Commission) - information on equal opportunities

Equality direct -  for advice on a wide range of equality issues aimed at business managers 

HSE (Health and Safety Executive) - for information on health and safety at work 

HMRC (HM Revenue and Customs) - site featuring news and information on tax and national insurance matters

Home office - for information on immigration, citizenship and asylum

Information commissioner's office - for information on data protection issues. The Commissioner is an independent supervisory authority with a range of duties including the promotion of good information handling and the encouragement of codes of practice for data controllers, that is, anyone who decides how and why personal data, (information about identifiable, living individuals) are processed 

OPSI (Office of Public Sector Information) - site providing the full text of all Acts of the UK Parliament since 1988, Statutory Instruments and draft Statutory Instruments (but why not use Lawtel for added value) 

People management - the online magazine of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development

Religion - online facility to calculate Muslim prayer times taking both location and time of year into account. 

Salary calculator - online calculator to help calculate an employee's take home pay.

TUC (Trades Union Congress) - 70 member unions representing nearly seven million working people  Site contains news, information and commentary

UK Parliament - for the full text of Bills currently before Parliament
