A recently reported survey carried out by data cleansing specialist, W8 Data, has found that the UK is significantly more confident than other EU countries that it can comply with the GDPR when it comes into force in May this year.  The survey focussed on 10 of the top EU countries by GDP. Of those firms surveyed only 29% of UK firms felt unprepared, in contrast to 48% of German firms, 71% of Swedish firms and 73% of Spanish firms.

However, it is worth noting that the survey revealed that only 39% of firms in the UK have created an internal GDPR taskforce to assist with compliance.  This may suggest that some UK firms are more confident than they should be about their compliance!
